|Since I didn't take any pictures this time, here's a|
birthday photo of when I turned 20.
It was my birthday on the 15th. Happy birthday to me! It's strange I'm 24 now, but it's better than being 23. It's always tricky saying "three" without sounding like I'm saying "tree," so "four" definitely is an improvement in my life!
I'm usually very excited about my birthday, even though since I was seven I stopped celebrating it with parties. Actually, I did have a party when I turned twenty, but it was more like a family thing. Just at home with Mom and the cats. This year wasn't that different, only that Mom wasn't around, since she's in Brazil, and we don't have any pets other than my housemate Cassie's fish. . . which died last week. . . so. . . Well, all I am trying to say is that this year I barely noticed my birthday approaching. We've been so busy with our things that I really didn't feel like properly celebrating it.
My favorite part, though, and biggest motivation to writing this entry, was the number of thoughtful messages and emails I got from my friends and family. My birthday, actually, started on the 14th with birthday wishes from friends who were in South Korea and Afghanistan, where my b-day had already begun. It was fantastic. And then I got messages all day on the 15th, and a few belated ones yesterday and today.
It always makes my day when I get to feel that even though I'm far away, people still remember me and take the time to tell me they care for me. That was really sweet. So, thank you everyone, you made me feel special! I hope one day I'll be able to reciprocate in person the love you sent me.
